Q. What colour temperatures do the GosoLED tubes come in? A. The tubes come in six different colour temperatures. They are: 2700-3300K WW Q. What sizes do the GosoLED tubes come in? A. 1198mm ( Q. I have T5 fixtures. Will the normal T8 tubes fit? A. No. T5 tubes will only fit in T5 fixtures. Q. Can you get T5 LED tubes? A. You can. We do not stock them yet, however. Q. Are the LED Tube as bright as normal fluorescent tubes? A. The LED Tubes are gernerally about 90% as bright as a traditional tube. Q. Are GosoLED Green able to supply tubes where the ends caps are on a 45 or 90 degree angle to standard pin positioning? A. Yes. Some fixtures are produced with the pin slots not in the usual vertical position. Pin slot positioning usually does not matter with fluoro tubes as they spread the light over 360 degrees. As LED tubes concentrate their spread solely over a 150-180 degree spread, when they are put into a fixture where the pin slots are not vertical and then clicked into position the LED's down not face downward, hence the light does not cover floor space. With GosoLED45 and 90 degree end caps, mis-directed light will never be a problem. Simply inform us at the time if you have 45 or 90 degree pin slot fixtures. Q. Is it true that GosoLED tubes do not need a ballast and/or a starter to operate the tubes? A. True. You don't need a starter or ballast to operate the tubes. Removing the starter by-passes the ballast and runs the tube on a direct 100-240v circuit. Q. I'm not an electrician. Can I install still install the tubes? A. Certainly. Just ensure you remove the starter before installing the tube. If you want to remove the ballast or the capacitor, only a licensed electrician is able to carry our these works. Q. Do GosoLED Tubes create any annoying flicker, hum or Ultra Violet rays? A. Thankfully for all those in an office or in food production, our tubes do not create any flicker or hum, and no UV means insects and bugs are not attracted to the light. Q. What is the life expectancy of GosoLED tubes. A. The tubes will last at least 50,000 hours (that's 5 1/2 years if run 24/7) however LED tubes can last as long as 100,000 hours. Compare this to a standard fluorescents life expectancy of about 8,000 hours. Q. What warranty to GosoLED Green offer on their tubes? A. We offer a two year warranty on our tubes. Q. How new is LED technology? A. LED technology has been around since the 1920's, however it is only recently that LED's have been seen as a genuine, energy efficient lighting source. LED tubes themselves are quite a new product and are not yet an everyday item. However LEDs are certainly the way of the future. The next time you are driving, take a close look at the traffic lights, variable speed zone light and truck brake lights – all a turning LED. Q. How much power does GosoLED tubes use compared to a traditional fluorescent tube? A. Your average, traditional fluorescent tube runs at about 36watts, however the ballast will draw an approximate additional 10w, meaning a pair of fluorescent tubes in a fixture will use up to 90watts a pair. GosoLED tubes, while rated at 18 watts, run at about 15 watts. In addition, because the starter is removed which by-passes the ballast, the addition watts used by the ballast in now non-existent, meaning that a pair of LED tubes in a fixture uses only about 30 watts – 70% less than traditional fluorescents. Q. If I order a tube, how long will it take to reach me? A. Most orders should be received no more than 2 weeks after ordering. Special orders, larger quantities and remote locations may take longer depending on availability and accessibility.

We’ve heard they are very energy-efficient – is this true?
Yes. LEDs require very little electricity to power them up. This is because they are extremely efficient. Their design converts approximately 90% of the electricity they consume into light. In a conventional light the figure is more like 10 – 15%, with the rest of the electricity effectively wasted in lost heat. GosoLED downlighters, for example, draw only around 5 Watts of electricity to light up, compared to the 35 -50watts drawn by a traditional halogen downlighter. That is a saving in electricity consumption of approximately 85%. Not bad when the cost of electricity is continually rising. All GosoLED lights are LED-based and all are highly energy-efficient.
So what’s so good about GosoLED lights?
As well as being highly energy-efficient, our lights are suitable for retro-fit installation and new builds. This means they can be used to replace existing lights (especially inefficient halogens) and/or be installed into buildings being designed for the future. Unlike many many LED’s currently on the market GosoLED lamps actually do what we say they do, are fully tested and of high build quality. GosoLED have kissed the frogs in the market so you don’t have to.
What’s wrong with other low-energy lighting?
The usual low-energy light technology on the market today is CFL – standing for Compact Fluorescent Light. These tend to be curly in shape and give off a bluey-white light. In effect they are the same technology as the neon fluorescent tubes often found in offices or kitchens, simply engineered to fit into smaller fittings (hence “compact”). CFL technology is energy-efficient, as it uses less electricity than traditional lighting. However, CFLs contain mercury, phosphor and other toxic materials in measurable quantities – they need these materials in order to work. They also tend to be made of glass and if they break they are a health hazard from both the glass shards and the mercury. In addition CFL lights tend to flicker and usually take time to come on
OK – that all sounds good. So how does the light compare?
Early LEDs gained a reputation for having a weak light output and unappealing colour. The
How can we say that these lights last 40,000 hours?
Our lights actually last for much, much longer than 40,000 hours, but after that the light output begins to look a bit less than it was. It is accepted that the human eye will begin to notice a difference when the light output decreases to about 70% of its maximum at around 50,000hrs. That’ still impressive life cycle for a lamp.
Why should I buy from GosoLED?
Of course other companies do offer excellent LED based lighting. Many companies specialise in making LEDs for decorative lighting effects. However GosoLED have many years experience in large scale commercial, interior and exterior installations. We know what works and what doesn’t work. We have made mistakes in product, installation and specification and learned. We pass this experience on to you so you benefit from our quality LED products.
Do your lights fit existing fittings?
Mostly GosoLED LAMPS have GU10, MR16, AR111, E27 AND Fluorescent.
Why are LEDs so much more expensive than regular light bulbs?
The main reason is that LEDs are built using complex engineering, expensive tooling and solid materials. LED’s are designed to last 5-10years and engineered to use minimal power. It is also and emerging technology. Costs however are constantly coming down.
So what savings can we expect with your lights?
The proof is in the pudding. A lamp consuming 5-6watts requiring no maintenance and giving equal light levels to a lamp consuming 50watts. That’s how simple it is. With lamp technology improving and additional lamps being added to the range and improved such as LED fluorescents eventually the world will be lit with LED. Once the cost of purchase can be accepted, the savings are massive.
Can LEDs be dimmable?
YES – We have a dimmable range. They are more expensive than the direct replacement but we hope to bring this cost down over the next few months.
